Orchard Toys Goose On The Loose
OBJECT OF THE GAME
Collect as many geese as you can without loosing them.
SETTING UP THE GAME
There is no particular order to the following, just do what is easiest for you. it is fun and most importantly, interactive. You will need to set up the geese by detaching them from the cards they are set in. Thee are 3 sets of the geese’s heads with their body and another 3 sets cards with the wings and feet. Each card has 2 colours on the, green/purple, yellow/red and blue/orange. Match the colours of each of them to make make you 3D Geese
Set up the 3D farmers by placing them in their matching stand. There are 4 in total.
Next you will need to put the playing board together. This comes as a four-piece jigsaw. This is quite thick card and very easy to put together.
You are then ready to play.
HOW TO PLAY
OMG!, you are going to enjoy this. it is so much fun!
Numbers of players are 2-4 people.
Each player chooses which farmer they would like to be.
It says on the instructions to start off with the youngest player (we have played it so many times, each time, we played it so it went up in age, it seems fair that way that each child gets to go first).
The first player rolls the dice and then has to move their farmer along the coloured circles on the map. Check the colour of the circle you have landed on and then match that with the coloured goose. Once this has been done, everyone shouts out ‘HONK’ (this really did have us in fits of giggles). The player then places the matching coloured goose on the circle of their playing card which has 6 colours (yellow, blue, orange, purple, red and green). The player the passes to the next person in play.
There are multi-coloured circles represented by 6 different triangular colours (these are the same as those mentioned in point 3 with regard to the players playing card. This means that as long as you have not filled all the spaces on your collection, you can then choose any coloured goose that you need from the table, or, what makes it more fun, is that you can take from another player. Watch the competitiveness come out LOL. Once again, shout ‘HONK’
With regard to point 4 above and in relation to the 6 different triangular colour circle, if you land on one of these and you have filled up your playing and, simply take a goose from another player and place it on the table with the other escaped geese shouting ‘GOOSE ON THE LOOSE’. OMG, hysterical fits of laughter by this time. Player then passes to the next player.
Should you unluckily land on a coloured space and have that coloured goose already on your collection board, the goose then escapes again. Shout out ‘GOOSE ON THE LOOSE’ and put the goose back on table.
Once you reach the end where it is marked with the red arrow, you will need to stand your farmer next to your collection board. If you have been lucky enough to collect any geese, these are yours and no one can take these.
The game does not finish until everyone has reached the red arrow.
The winner, yes you have guessed it, is the one with the most geese.
The game is excellent for cognitive learning which is very important to me. From touch, feel and look, to the brightly coloured cards which all make it a really great way to engage and interact with your child/children, all of which will stimulate their sensory play whilst playing and interacting; especially the jigsaw. This is bright and bold with pictures of farm animals, farmers, flowers, trees, chicken, pond and so much more (great for interactive play)
